- Waste Management Training from Recology “It’s time to create less waste” Presentation
- Waste has tripled since 2000. SF’s Zero Waste Goal for 2020 has been revised by Mayor Breed to:
- Reduce municipal solid waste generation by 15% by 2030 (reducing what goes to recycling, composting, and trash).
- Reduce disposal to landfill and incineration 50% by 2030 (in San Francisco this means reducing what goes in the black trash bins).
- In 2017, the largest consumer of paper/plastic, China, stopped purchasing recycling items from other countries. Instead, they began focusing on internal trash and recycling programs. This major decision has forced companies/countries around the world to look for other countries (Southeast Asia, etc.), incurring higher transportation costs for recycled waste processing. As a result, there’s now a greater priority and urgency on reduce wastes, diverting recyclables by revamping machinery and processes.
- Residents
