  • LoHaMNA Grant Program Updates – Scott
    • Applications for $1,000
    • open to ALL Lower Haight community (residents and businesses)

    • Awarded quarterly, next deadline is Sept 30

      • Sidewalk gardens, signage
      • SF Shines is a separate bucket with larger funds primarily for merchants only
  • New Lower Haight Merchants – Michael
    • Lots of merchant members including: Walking Fish, Mad Dog in the Fog, Reveille, Two Jacks, Black Sands, Maven, Danny Coyles, Velox, SF Strong, MX3, Sabah, The Grind, Whole Foods, VR3 Studio, Duola, etc. — plus bldg owners on 600-700 block
    • Updates:
      • San Francycle Bike Shop will become a restaurant
      • Sushi Raw is moving out at the end of the year/Mission Restaurant team prospects as new restaurant
      • Nectar space 663 Haight, now Sabah
        • Saturday, Sept 14 is Grand Opening (11am)
        • Ari (Retail Director) – Mickey Ashmore is the owner
        • Handmade shoes in Turkey – for adults/kids
        • East Village start 6.5 years ago, 3 employees to 35 (lots of Syrian Refugees)
        • Sabah House – shoes and third party goods, artisans (hat makers, textiles, etc.); hosting Family Dinners/Events
        • Now Hiring: Retail Mgr and 3 – 4 p/t employees (apply here)
  • Open Forum
    • Nert (Neighborhood Emergency Response Training): SFFD program (vs. Cert nationally) – Brian
      • 1989 was the inception (SF & FEMA); Volunteers pumping water from the Bay
      • Six weeks of training; schedule here
      • Nerts will meet at Patricia’s Green / Octavia / Hayes / Fell
      • Shelter/Care/Feeding is Red Cross, NOT Nert
      • Nert works with SFFD
      • 50 – 80 people minimum for location-specific training

      • Ride Along with all the Supervisors
      • Goal is to have 3 Rapid Lines from start to the end (30 min) and by 2030 all Rapid Lines will be 30 min total
      • Other goals: Faster 29 Line, 30×30 strategy and transit equity
    • EMF/Cell Phone Towers/5G Repeaters Issue – Thea
      • SF 5G is starting in D5
      • Katherine Dodd, Nurse advocate against
      • Effort underway to educate Electeds (Aids)
      • FCC is in lock step with AT&T, Verizon, Comcast
      • Berkeley has a Right to Know Ordinance
      • Some Supervisors voted without full knowledge of the approval
      • Efforts to rescind the BOS vote for approving
      • Community needs a process where by we can actually push back/veto telecomm actions
      • Goal is a moratorium on the technology
      • Need multiple neighborhoods/municipalities to support/letter to sign (LoHaMNA)
    • Haight St Transit Project (part of Page St project) – Nikki
      • Project to speed transit on Haight and reduce red-lane violations
      • 7am to 7pm no parking rule for 7 spot
      • Can duration be reduced?
