LOCAL: Let Our Communities Adjust Late-Night

Presentation and visit by Victor Ruiz from Senator Scott Weiner Office

  • Proposed Legislation that allows communities to adjust / extend hours of alcoholic sales
  • Proposed benefits
    • Economic Driver and County in San Francisco
      • Information Available on Senator Weiner’s Website regarding impact study
    • Tourism Driver
    • Supporter of Art and Nightclub Venues
    • No Increase in Drunk Driving based on Studies
    • Increases and Support of LGBT Community Businesses
    • Overall allows local communities to implement protocols
    • Incorporates 2 Year Sunset Clause for Re-vote
    • Lowers Binge Drinking and Last Call Binge Drinking by staggering and not rushing patrons.
    • Assembly Vote in July 2017

 

Public Works Street Programs for Lower Haight

Presentation by Alex Murillo of Public Works Public Officer regarding status of Lower Haight street improvements.

  • Water Tie in program will continue thru October 2017
  • Discussed Curb Ramps and Bus Pads. Work to Start in Late July 2017
  • Street Base Repair Program and Final Paving Target for November 2017
  • Wiggle Project December 2017
  • Masonic Work Target by Spring 2018

Haight Street Art Center

Presentation by Peter McQuaid of the Haight Street Art Center located at Buchanan and Laguna. Director McQuaid is canvassing neighborhood regarding initiatives and projects that could serve the community. Invites members of the community to learn more about the organization at HaightStreetArt.org. Open Wednesdays to Sundays (11pm to 5pm)

 

LOHAMNA Pilot Micro Grant Program

Presentation by Robert Patterson describing pilot MicroGrant Program. Program to be finalized by August 2017 for public outreach and invitation. Program to be posted at LOHAMNA.org, soliciting people to be on judging panel now. We ask that panel and grantees be LoHaMNA members in good standing. Volunteers needed for selection panel, and Hal Fischer and Jean Marx volunteered. People can join via www.lohamna.org

 

New Retail Projects in the Lower Haight

  • New Tenant Signed for 201 Steiner Space. Tenant to open cafe, wine and food shop by end of 2017.
  • Lower Haight Frozen “Khustard” Ice Cream shop to open next to GRIND in coming month, LoHaMNA played role in putting tenant and landlord together.
  • New Vegan Bakery Coming to Lower Haight by Spring 2018 on Divisadero at Haight

Bronze Sidewalk Plaques

  • Amy Chan presents sidewalk plaques highlighting Lower Haight history to be installed at corner of Fillmore and Haight. Public Works to install plaques as part of sidewalk improvement work to be completed at end of the year. Amy Chan to create online form for voting on content of the plaques.

 

480 Haight Street Development (Lee’s Meats building)

  • Presentation by architect for 480 Haight Street. Jeremy Schaub (Schaub / Lee Architect) resident and architect working on multi unit building. Initial presentation. Architect to attend future meeting on behalf of developer for community support
